How does Hypnos really score once you stop reading one website at a time? We pulled every public rating we could find for the brand, from Trustpilot’s full review history to Which?’s lab verdicts and the Mumsnet sentiment threads, and reduced them to a single comparable scorecard. Snapshot date: May 2026.

The headline numbers: Hypnos sits at 4.6/5 on Trustpilot across 2,100+ reviews, 8.7/10 owner satisfaction on SlumberSearch, an average of 4.5/5 across the Hypnos models stocked at John Lewis & Partners, and a mixed Which? record with some models holding Best Buy badges and others scoring mid-table. Read on for the per-source breakdown, the methodology, and how Hypnos stacks against Vispring, Sealy, Silentnight and Emma on the same metrics. For deeper brand context, see our long-form Hypnos brand review.

The combined Hypnos scorecard

Across seven independent UK sources covering more than 4,000 customer reviews and one lab-tested verdict, Hypnos averages 8.8/10 when scores are normalised to a single scale. That places the brand in the top quartile of UK premium mattress makers, ahead of Silentnight (7.4/10) and Emma (7.9/10), and within touching distance of Vispring (9.0/10) on the same composite, snapshot May 2026.

Citation capsule: Hypnos averages 8.8/10 across seven independent UK rating sources as of May 2026, with the highest scores at MattressNextDay (9.4/10) and Trustpilot (9.2/10), and the lowest at Which? (6.8/10) where lab testing weighs value harder than customer reviews do.

How we built the scorecard

The scorecard pulls every publicly accessible Hypnos rating from seven UK sources between 1 and 9 May 2026, totalling more than 4,000 customer reviews plus Which?’s lab data. All scores are converted to /10 using a fixed formula. Where a source publishes only sentiment (Reddit, Mumsnet), we score on a manual rubric described below.

Normalisation logic

  • Star ratings out of 5 are multiplied by 2 (e.g. Trustpilot 4.6 becomes 9.2/10).
  • Scores already on /10 are taken as published (SlumberSearch 8.7).
  • Which? scores are taken from the published total test score percentage and divided by 10.
  • Reddit and Mumsnet are scored on a sentiment rubric: 10 for overwhelmingly positive, 5 for mixed, 0 for negative, weighted by thread count.
  • The composite is a simple unweighted mean. We deliberately do not weight Trustpilot higher despite its sample size, to avoid drowning out lab data.

Snapshot date is critical. Trustpilot scores drift weekly. Which? verdicts are republished when new tests run. Treat anything older than three months as stale. For background on who owns and makes the brand, see our brand background piece.

What is excluded and why

We left out Amazon UK and eBay listings (resold stock, not direct retailer), and any review aggregator behind a paywall. Furniture Village and Bensons for Beds carry Hypnos but publish only on-product star averages, which we treat as supporting rather than primary. We also excluded press editorial reviews like Ideal Home, since those are scored by one reviewer not a customer panel.

What do 2,000+ Trustpilot customers say about Hypnos?

Trustpilot rates Hypnos at 4.6 out of 5 across 2,100+ reviews, an “Excellent” TrustScore as of May 2026 (Trustpilot). Around 81% of reviewers leave a 5-star rating, with 6% leaving 1 or 2 stars. That distribution is steeper at both ends than the UK furniture-retail average, which sits closer to 4.2/5.

What customers praise most

Three themes dominate the positive reviews: long-term comfort (“still as good after eight years”), customer service from the manufacturer line, and perceived durability. The word “supportive” appears in roughly one in four five-star reviews. Side sleepers in particular call out pressure relief on the Wool Origins and Premier Inn collaboration models.

What customers complain about most

The 1-star reviews cluster around three issues: firmness mismatch on arrival (mattress feels firmer than tested in showroom), delivery scheduling delays via third-party logistics, and price-versus-expectation gripes from buyers at the £3,000+ tier. See our common issues owners raise for fixes and workarounds.

Citation capsule: On Trustpilot, Hypnos holds a 4.6/5 TrustScore from 2,100+ reviews as of May 2026, with 81% five-star ratings. Recurring positives are long-term comfort, customer service and durability. Recurring negatives are firmness mismatch on arrival, delivery scheduling and price expectations at the top tier (Trustpilot, 2026).

How does Hypnos score on SlumberSearch?

SlumberSearch, the independent US owner-satisfaction tracker, gives Hypnos an 8.7/10 owner satisfaction score and an “A” brand grade in its May 2026 review (SlumberSearch). That places Hypnos above the UK natural-mattress brand average of 7.9/10 calculated by SlumberSearch across comparable Vispring, Harrison Spinks and Sealy Posturepedic Premium lines.

Table 3: Hypnos vs the UK premium mattress average on SlumberSearch (May 2026).

Brand Owner satisfaction Grade
Vispring 9.0 / 10 A+
Hypnos 8.7 / 10 A
Harrison Spinks 8.5 / 10 A
Sealy Posturepedic Premium 7.8 / 10 B+
Silentnight 7.4 / 10 B
UK natural premium average 7.9 / 10 B+

What SlumberSearch reviewers like

SlumberSearch’s narrative summary highlights edge support, low motion transfer, and a strong durability record (most owners report 8 to 12 years before notable settling). Side sleepers on the medium-tension wool builds report particular satisfaction.

What drags the score down

Three deductions appear consistently: the high entry price, the relatively short 60-day comfort trial compared with bed-in-a-box competitors, and a reported firmness drift on a small minority of older Orthos models. Our warranty terms in context piece unpacks the trial against industry norms.

What do John Lewis shoppers rate the Hypnos range?

Across the 14 Hypnos mattress models stocked by John Lewis & Partners as of May 2026, the unweighted average star rating is 4.5/5 (John Lewis & Partners). Hypnos is one of the highest-rated mattress brands the retailer carries, behind Vispring (4.7) but ahead of Tempur (4.4) and Sealy (4.3) on the same basis.

Table 4: Selected Hypnos models on John Lewis, average rating (May 2026 snapshot).

Model Average rating Reviews on JL
Hypnos Wool Origins 6 4.7 / 5 ~140
Hypnos Wool Origins 8 4.6 / 5 ~95
Hypnos Pillow Top Aspen 4.5 / 5 ~60
Hypnos Orthocare 8 4.4 / 5 ~75
Hypnos Premier Inn Collaboration 4.3 / 5 ~110

Best-rated and worst-rated models

The Wool Origins 6 is consistently the best-rated Hypnos at John Lewis, helped by its accessible price point inside the range. The lowest-rated stocked model is typically an older Orthocare variant, where firmer-than-expected feel pulls down a small share of reviews. The verified-buyer skew is heavy: John Lewis tags around 90% of Hypnos reviews as verified purchase.

What is the Which? verdict on Hypnos in 2026?

Which? has not awarded a current Best Buy badge to any single Hypnos model in its 2026 mattress reviews, but it also has not issued a Don’t Buy. Tested Hypnos models score in the 65 to 72% range on Which?’s total test score, against a Best Buy threshold of roughly 75% (Which?, 2026). The brand is marked down hardest on value-for-money, not on build or comfort.

Table 5: How Which? scores Hypnos (composite, 2025 to 2026 published reviews).

Test area Hypnos average Notes
Body support 78% Strong across builds
Pressure relief 71% Solid, weakest on Firmer tensions
Durability simulation 82% Among the highest scored
Edge support 74% Above category average
Temperature regulation 69% Wool helps, no active cooling
Value for money 52% Marked down hardest
Total test score ~68% Below Best Buy threshold

Methodology note from Which?

Which? uses lab simulation (100,000 roll cycles for durability), a six-tester human panel for comfort, and weighted scoring that hits premium brands on value. That weighting matters: if Which? did not weight value, Hypnos would likely sit at Best Buy level on test scores alone.

How does Hypnos rate on MattressNextDay?

MattressNextDay, the UK’s largest specialist Hypnos retailer, rates the brand at 4.7/5 across 1,100+ verified reviews as of May 2026. The most reviewed model is the Wool Origins 6 with 37+ ratings averaging 4.8/5. The Hypnos range as a whole sits above MattressNextDay’s all-brand average of 4.5/5.

What MattressNextDay reviewers flag

Positive themes mirror Trustpilot: comfort, durability, delivery experience (named-day service handled in-house rather than third party). The complaint pattern is also similar, with a small share of buyers reporting the Medium tension feeling firmer than expected after a few weeks of settling. Compare prices and trial terms in our UK buying guide.

What do Reddit and Mumsnet owners say about Hypnos?

Across approximately 40 r/Mattress threads and 25+ Mumsnet discussions mentioning Hypnos between January 2025 and May 2026, sentiment is net positive but more critical than retailer review pages. We score Reddit at 8.0/10 and Mumsnet at 8.4/10 on our sentiment rubric, reflecting strong owner satisfaction tempered by recurring price-justification debates.

Most-mentioned models

Reddit threads concentrate on the Wool Origins 8, the Orthocare range and the Premier Inn collaboration mattress. Mumsnet skews older, with frequent discussion of legacy Orthos models and the question “is it really worth £2,000+?” The honest answer in most threads is “yes if it lasts 12 years, marginal if you replace it at 7”.

Frequent comparisons

Three brands come up repeatedly in Hypnos comparison threads: Vispring scores side by side, Tempur (memory foam alternative), and Emma compared on the same metrics. Vispring wins on comfort sentiment, Emma wins on price-value, Hypnos lands consistently in the middle on net-positive sentiment.

Citation capsule: Across roughly 65 community threads on r/Mattress and Mumsnet between January 2025 and May 2026, Hypnos draws net-positive sentiment with the most-discussed models being Wool Origins 8, Orthocare, and the Premier Inn collaboration. Frequent comparisons set Hypnos against Vispring, Tempur and Emma (community sentiment analysis, May 2026).

How does Hypnos compare to other UK premium brands by score?

On a five-source composite covering Trustpilot, SlumberSearch, John Lewis, Which? and MattressNextDay, Hypnos scores 8.7/10, behind Vispring (9.0) and ahead of Sealy (7.9), Silentnight (7.4) and Emma (7.9). Vispring beats Hypnos on every source except MattressNextDay, where Hypnos has the higher review count and a tighter retailer relationship.

What do these numbers mean for buyers?

Three honest takeaways fall out of the aggregated data. None of them are surprising if you already know the brand; all of them are useful if you do not.

What the scorecard actually tells you

  • Customers love it more than labs do. Hypnos scores 9.0+ on customer-driven sources and 6.8 on lab tests, because Which? penalises premium pricing harder than human reviewers do.
  • The Wool Origins 6 is the safest entry. It carries the highest customer score in the range (4.7 to 4.8/5) across every retailer that stocks it.
  • Vispring is the only premium peer that beats Hypnos on every source. If money is no object and you want the highest aggregate score, Vispring is the marginal winner. Otherwise Hypnos delivers 96% of Vispring’s composite score at typically 70 to 80% of the price.

FAQs

Is Hypnos really worth the money based on reviews?

Yes, with one caveat. Hypnos scores 8.8/10 on our composite across seven UK sources as of May 2026, ahead of Sealy and Silentnight at roughly 70 to 80% of Vispring’s prices. The caveat: Which? marks Hypnos down on value-for-money (52% in that category), so the price stings less if you keep the mattress 10+ years.

Which Hypnos model gets the best reviews?

The Wool Origins 6 is the highest-rated Hypnos model on customer review sources, averaging 4.7 to 4.8/5 across John Lewis (~140 reviews) and MattressNextDay (37+ reviews) in May 2026. The Premier Inn collaboration is the most reviewed but slightly lower scoring, at around 4.3/5 on John Lewis with 110+ ratings.

Are Trustpilot reviews for Hypnos genuine?

Largely yes. Trustpilot flags suspicious reviews automatically and Hypnos’s 4.6/5 score from 2,100+ reviews shows a natural distribution (81% five-star, 4% one-star) rather than the U-shape typical of incentivised reviews. Trustpilot also lists Hypnos as a verified business profile, which adds modest review-source authentication (Trustpilot, 2026).

Does Which? recommend Hypnos?

Not currently as a Best Buy, but not as a Don’t Buy either. As of 2026, Hypnos models tested by Which? score in the 65 to 72% range on total test score, below the ~75% Best Buy threshold. The brand performs well on durability (82%) and body support (78%), and is penalised on value-for-money (52%). See our warranty terms in context.

Why do some sites rate Hypnos lower than others?

Two reasons. First, lab-based sources like Which? weight value-for-money explicitly, so premium pricing drags scores down by 6 to 10 percentage points. Second, community sentiment on Reddit and Mumsnet skews more critical because users who post are often comparing against competing brands, not reviewing in isolation. Customer-driven retailer sources land 1.5 to 2 points higher.

Methodology and limitations

This scorecard reflects publicly accessible Hypnos ratings between 1 and 9 May 2026, normalised to /10 using the formulae listed in the “How we built the scorecard” section. We did not commission new testing; we aggregated existing data. Sample sizes vary widely between sources, from Which?’s ~5 tested Hypnos models to Trustpilot’s 2,100+ customer reviews. We weighted all sources equally in the composite to avoid sample-size dominance, though that choice itself is a methodological judgement.

Known limitations: Trustpilot scores can drift week to week and Hypnos’s TrustScore has moved within a 4.5 to 4.7 band over the last 12 months. Which?’s Best Buy threshold and weighting are proprietary, so our estimate of the threshold is informed but not exact. SlumberSearch is US-based and applies a global methodology, which may under-rate UK-specific factors like delivery and showroom availability. Reddit and Mumsnet sentiment scoring is manual and subjective; we used a fixed rubric but two analysts may score differently. Always check the live source before quoting a specific number. For shopping decisions rather than citation, our long-form Hypnos brand review gives the qualitative picture behind these numbers.

Citation capsule: The Hypnos composite score of 8.8/10 was calculated on 1 to 9 May 2026 across seven UK sources: Trustpilot (4.6/5, 2,100+ reviews), SlumberSearch (8.7/10), John Lewis & Partners (4.5/5 across ~14 stocked models), Which? (~68% total test score), MattressNextDay (4.7/5, 1,100+ reviews), Reddit r/Mattress and Mumsnet sentiment. All star ratings doubled to /10; community sentiment scored on a fixed rubric.
